Workshop news

Currently in the middle of running our most comprehensive and successful online workshop yet - an introduction to Java programming using the BlueJ IDE. This has application to a wider audience than just IB Computer Science teachers and we will try to promote it elsewhere after the end of the current course. The workshop uses an object-based approach right from the start - the first class introduced is not even runnable - and also introduces GUI's very early on. This seems to be working well. In addition we have plenty of screencasts and some Flash demos (mainly code walkthroughs) to appeal to visual learners.

Please check http://www.ibo.org/events/ for news of upcoming workshops for computer science teachers.

Site news

Planning to work on an administrative front-end for the registered users external database. This will make recording learner's progress and achievements easier to manage - along with all the usual stuff like passwords etc.

A Drupal content management system has been installed and all of the html material will be transferred to that site eventually. This will allow more stuff like videos and enable comments and additions to be made by registered users.
